The National Identification Number (NIN) is the unique number which identifies an individual for life. It is used to match anyone with their biometric data and other details in the National Identity Database during verification and authentication. MRA in partnership with VAS2Nets who is a licensed organization by the NIMC can assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) to individuals/MRA residents. The NIN is set to be used for all transactions in Nigeria requiring identity verification as required in the following:

• obtaining National e-ID card
• travel (international passport application & acquisition)
• opening personal bank accounts
• getting driver’s license
• obtaining Permanent Voters’ Card
• participating in the National Health Insurance Scheme
• payment of taxes
